The name “Westmanstown” first appeared in historical records in 1821. It is believed to have evolved from “Waspayle,” the surname of a Norman family recorded in the area during the 16th century.
The kestrel, prominently featured in the club’s emblem, is a member of the falcon family and is often seen hovering gracefully around the course. The male kestrel is easily recognised by its blue-grey head, white-tipped tail, and reddish-brown upper feathers, speckled with black. These striking birds are a familiar and fitting presence across the club’s natural surroundings.
